I put it plain and simple. YOU CAN’T! Its a far larger project then this deadline alone due to having the worst owner in sports history running the Yankees. NAME ANY OTHER PRO SPORTS FRANCHISE WHO’S OWNER HAS PROVEN HE HAS NO UNDER STANDING OF THE SPORT? That said improvements enough to get a playoff spot can be made.
1st you must start out ridding the team of the non MLB caliber players. They are:
- INF Anthony Volpe = trade away
- INF Gleyber Torres = trade away
- INF Isiah Kiner-Felefa = trade away
- C Kyle Higashioka = release as not even COLE will work with him now
- RHP Domingo German = trade away
- RHP Luis Severino = trade away
- 3B/DH Josh Donaldson = release and exercise buyout
- RHP Ron Marinaccio = demote then trade in offseason
- OF Harrison Bader = trade away as he’s become a cancer now
Then you have to start replacing these guys with actual MLB talent. Maybe in the same moves in some cases.
That’s 8 player to replace. Some has to be done via calls ups and others via trade.
The no brainer is this trade:
Yankees Get: 3B Ryan McMahon, OF Nolan Jones
Rockies Get: RHP Ron Marranaccio, INF Gleyber Torres, 1B Tyler Hardman, and 3B Andres Chaparro
Far more then the Rockies just got for Cron and Grichuk.
In this t he Yankees have addressed the glaring holes at 3B and LF and for lefty bats in the lineup.
For Catcher the Yankees just call up Austin Wells and roll with him and Rortvedt.
For CF you call up Jasson Dominguez who is raking at AA and has far more time there then Volpe ever got. Yes you could trade for Dylan Carlson but is he really any better then calling up Dominguez?
For rotation you call up RHP’s Jhony Brito and Randy Vasquez till Cortes is ready then keep one of them up.
For a bullpen arm I call up LHP Matt Krrok who was great last time up and has 1.05 ERA at AAA.
To get another INF I call up Trey Sweeney who is raking at AA and give him SS. A 6’5″ Lefty bat who cna get the balls Volpe never could.
I also call up Oswald Peraza for a young athletic INF to play 2B or SS.
After all this the team has been retooled, shed OVER $80 Million in in salary and added just $34 in Jones and McMahon, and has a real lineup now. This:
- 2B DJ LaMahieu (R)
- CF Jasson Dominguez (S)
- RF Aaron Judge (R)
- 3B Ryan McMahon (L)
- LF Nolan Jones (L)
- DH Giancarlo Stanton (R)
- SS Trey Sweeney (L)
- 1B Anthony Rizzo (L)
- C Austin Wells (L)
Notice the massive, MASSIVE lefty lineup presence now? So desperately needed its not even funny. Also great lineup depth with the 2 power lefty bats behind Judge protecting him.
I also dropped Rizzo way down the lineup to take his effect way down to completely away. In the offseason should Murakami be posted you sign him instantly and figure things wiht Riddo out later if only making him a part time player/bench bat.
The Bench now looks like this:
- INF Oswald Peraza (R)
- OF Billy McKinney (L)
- INF/OF Jake Bauers (L)
- C Ben Rortvedt (L)
- OF Greg Allen (S)
Loaded bench with all kinds of talent.
The rotation is now this:
- RHP Gerrit Cole
- LHP Carlos Rodon
- RHP Clarke Schmidt
- LHP Nestor Cortes
- RHP Randy Vasquez/Jhony Brito
So much better then currently constituted. Deep and loaded.
The bullpen even has more balance now being this:
LEFTIES
Wandy Peralta
Nick Ramirez
Matt Krook
RIGHTIES:
Clay Holmes
Mike Kng
Tommy Kahnle
Ian Hamilton
Albert Abreu
Obviously a back end of the bullpen RH arm would be useful. Heck even a lefty one like Hader.
This is a far younger and more athletic team now but the lineup balance. This can all be done RIGHT NOW! TODAY ALONE!
WHAT ARE THE YANKEES WAITING FOR?
