Time to take my crack at predicting the Yankees opening day roster for 2024.
I will go in a different format then most from the Rotation, to the Bullpen, to the Lineup, to the bench. I will try top be realistic as possible.
Lets get started:
Rotation:
- RHP Gerrit Cole
- LHP Carlos Rodon
- RHP Shane Beiber
- LHP Shota Imanaga
- RHP Clarke schmidt
The Yankees have literally no choice but to add MULTIPLE SP’s. Sending Torres or Peraza with Cortes to the Guardians is a perfect fit both ways. Then they snag the cheap solid arm in Imanaga.
BULLPEN:
- CP LHP Josh Hader
- SU1 RHP Clay Holmes
- SE2: LHP VIctor Gonzalez
- MR1 RHP Tommy Kahnle
- MR2 LHP Matt Krook
- MR3 RHP Johnathan Loaisiga
- LR1 RHP Scott Effross
- LR2 LHP Nestor Cortes
Deep and loaded pen. The longer Josh Hader sits in FA, the more likely it is the Yankees grab him (Already connected to him 8+ times in the last week). He is a Cashman white Whale after all.
LINEUP:
- LF Alex Verdugo (L)
- 3B DJ LaMahieu (R)
- LF Juan Soto (L)
- CF Aaron Judge (R)
- 1B Anthony Rizzo (L)
- DH Giancarlo Stanton (R)
- 2B Anthony Volpe (R)
- C Austin Wells (L)
- SS Oswald Peraza (R)
Just the feel I get right now. This changes for sure if Jasson Dominguez proves healthy. Also pending trade’s that are coming.
BENCH:
- C Jose Trevino (R)
- INF/OF Waldo Cabrera (S)
- OF/1B/DH Oscar Gonzalez (R)
- OF Trent Grisham (L)
As of right now this is the Yankees bench. That said, trade’s could change this one fast. The Yankees could go multiple ways here. This one just makes the most sense.
Remember at any time the Yankees could make a trade that could change this drastically. This is just a guessing game after all.
