How the Yankees CAN Make Some BIG MOVES and STILL Have A Reasonable SALARY!

As we fly towards FA starts this coming Sunday OR Monday I have been running different scenario’s through different offseason simulators like Sportrac’s. What it has shown me is how EASY, REDICULOUSLY EASY, it would be for the Yankees to make SEVERAL HUGE MOVES and still keep the payroll around $200-$225 Million.

I signed BOTH Seager’s for expected contracts, Rizzo for an expected contract, Ray for an Expected Contract, made 3 tradesย  and still kept the Yankees payroll UNDER $220 Million.

Remember the Yankees Payroll was at $203 Million at the end of the season. It dropped $39.8 Million in expiring contracts. That drops it to around $165 Million. The Yankees are expected to trade AT LEAST 6 of their 11 ARB guys and keep their ARB # around $20 Million or less with the ones left.

So we’ll stick the payroll at $185 Million for our purposes. (NOTE: THERE WIL BE INEXCAT CHANGES IN INCRAMENTS TO COVER IN INDIRECT RASIES AND LOWERING OF THE PAYROLL #)

1st lest sign SS Corey Seager for his EXPECTED $25 Million per year. Yes he is expected to get FAR., FAR less then some predictions including Sportrac’s BRAIN DEAD $38 Mil per one.

Payroll now to $210 Million.

1st trade: Hicks, Britton (Salary dump and eat some of the $$), Garcia, and Schmidt for Ketel Marte. Added pieces to get the Dbacks to eat some contract $$ here. That drops OPVER $20 Million off the salary.

Payroll back down to around $185 Million.

Resign 1B Anthony Rizzo.ย  That’s around $15 Million more on the salary.

Salary up to $201 Million.

Next trade Torres, Andujar, Gio, Wade, and a young Pitcher or 2 to the Reds for Luis Castillo. That drops $15 Million more off the Yankees books.

Salary back down to $185 Million.ย

Next I decline Gardner’s contract dropping another $10 Million off. Then trade Voit in a salary Dump for Prospects to the Cubs (They need a 1B and lover Voit).

Salary now drops to around $170 Million.

Next I sign LHP Dobbie Ray for his expected 5 year $105 Million deal and loaded it with incentives so he only gets the $$ if he plays enough.

Payroll back up to around $192 Million.ย

Next I trade Peraza, Frazier, Higashioka, and Luis Median for CP Josh Hader.

Payroll raises back to ABOUT $202 Million.

Lower payroll then last year yet so many hole already fixed and 8 of the arm guys traded saving maybe more $$ there.

Thus the Payroll drops another $10 Million or there abouts in arb savings not projected at the start of this to around $192 Million.

Now I give Judge his 8 year $210 Million extension taking the Payroll up another $15 Million.

Payroll back to around $205 Million.ย

Lets take a look at this new Yankees roster:

New Rotation:

  1. RHP Garret Cole
  2. RHP Luis Castillo
  3. LHP Robbie Ray
  4. RHP Luis Severino
  5. RHP Jamison Taillon

WOW WHAT A LOADED ROTATION ON THE CHEAP!

New Bullpen:

  1. CP: LHP Josh Hader
  2. SU1: RHP Johnny Loaisiga
  3. SU2: LHP Aroldis Chapman
  4. MR1: RHP Clay Holmes
  5. MR2: RHP Chad Green
  6. MR3: LHP Lucas Leutge
  7. LR1: RHP Mike King
  8. LR2: LHP Nestor Cortes

Just an absolutely deep, loaded BULLPEN! WOW!

LineUp:

  1. 2B DJ LeMahieu (R)
  2. 1B Anthony Rizzo (L)
  3. RF Aaron Judge (R)
  4. CF Ketel Marte (S)
  5. DH Giancarlo Stanton (R)
  6. SS Corey Seager (L)
  7. C Gary Sanchez (R)
  8. 3B Kyle Seager (L)
  9. LF Joey Gallo (L)

Nasty deep lineup. WOW!!! So balanced and well set up to dominate in Yankee stadium! 2 PROVEN .300+ guys around Stanton and judge added to Rizzo and DJ is a major MUST for the Yankees.

Bench:ย

  1. INF Rougned Odor (L)
  2. C Rob Brantley (L)
  3. INF Andrew Velasquez (R)
  4. OF Estevan Florial (L)

A good bench with tons of depth. Good pop in Odor and Florial as well.

So as you can see the Yankees can EASILY remake this roster and keep the payroll low! This also is a 1000% realistic scenario as well!

We will have to wait and see what Cashman ultimately does though Rizzo, Ray, and the Seager’s are believed locks by most experts. Also there si a chance the YAnkees make a play for a OFer like Chris Taylor OFer a bench/4th OF guy. Lots of options are out there!
