The Yankees ARE 100% Making a Change at Catcher! Also Other Notes!

As we move closer to FA it has become more apparent then ever the Yankees are 100% making a change at catcher.

I was told earlier today the Yankees are 100% in on the following catchers respectively:

1. Yadier Molina(FA)
2. J.T. Realmuto(FA)
3. James McCann(FA)
4. Salvador Perez(trade)

The Yankees want a new new catcher after Sanchez complete flop 2020 season! If not for the future then for a few years to mentor Sanchez.

How does this change the roles for Gary Sanchez the incumbent starter and back up Kyle Higashioka?

Higashioka is 31 so almost a lock he’s traded! He simply is not the future in the Bronx.

Gary Sanchez could play beside Molina or Perez and learn from either of them or be traded if the Yankees sign one of the other 2.

The Belief right now is Yadier Molina will join the Yankees:

Yankees may look to sign Yadier Molina ..Molina (38) is seeking a 2 year deal but Yankees are more inclined to offer a 1 year deal. Would a club option seal the deal? Time will tell what route will be taken when the off-season officially begins.

This is a very fast growing belief!

The old vets(Either Molina or Perez) would make absolutely amazing mentors for Sanchez or just replacement for him for a year or 2 till Austin Wells, Anthony Ziegler, or Josh Brieux are ready to take over.

which of these 4 catchers the Yankees end up with is just one of many moves coming this off season from DJ being resigned to signing Bauer(Also a strong growing belief), to trading for Lindor (a near lock), and ETC!

Its more then obvious the Yankees mean business this offseason.

Based off today’s new info and everything I have heard thus far this is by far the most likely opening day lineup for the Yankees in 2021:

1. 1B DJ LeMahieu
2. RF Aaron Judge
3. SS Francisco Lindor
4. DH Giancarlo Stanton
5. 2B Gleyber Torres
6. CF Joc Pederson
7. C Yadier Molina
8. 3B Gio Urshela
9. LF Clint Frazier

I don’t think a single Yankees fan would be upset with this.

As for the Bench you would have this now:

1. 1B Luke Voit
2. INF/OF Freddie Galvis type utility player.
3. C Gary Sanchez
4. OF Mike Tauchman

Yes Gardner is 100% gone! Move on!

Nothing new on the Bullpen so it stays as previously mentioned with Hendricks the Relief Man of the Year and Josh Hader added.

As for the rotation there is one small change I have heard. The Yankees are now more likely then not to stick with Jordan Montgomery over Robbie Ray…

As such here’s my new 2021 rotation prediction:

1. RHP Garrit Cole
2. RHP Trevor Bauer
3. LHP Jordan Montgomery
4. RHP Deivi Garcia
5. RHP Clarke Schmidt

Based off the current rumblings this is it! A salary balancing trade for Lindor with German and Hicks the expected package.

As for Luis Severino he would take which ever of the bottom 3-5 is struggling most rotation spot.

Higashioka traded in a package for Hader.

Then signings of DJ(extended before FA in the private negotiating period), Bauer, Hendricks and Pederson.

A great young team for the next several years. The Yankees have to make moves and I sense them coming in a smart $$ saving way like this.
