As LHP Tarik Skubal enter’s FA after the Dodgers were Swept by the Brewers in the NLCS, We all are wondeirng… WHERE IS HE GOING NOW?
The 1st question that must be asked to determine this is, WHAT WILL HIS CONTRACT LOOK LIKE?
Well here’s the largest contracts ever handed out to a 30+ year old Starting Pitcher as LHP Tarik Skubal is (Turns 30 on November 30th, 2026):
Strasburg’s deal couldn’t have aged worse if it wanted to. Like raw milk on the Saraha Sandoons. He is medically retired EARLY due to this!
Scherzer’s was very good though it did fall off the last 2 years. Eespecially after he was traded to the Dodgers in a terrible move for his career!
David Price, the only LHP on this list, came apart at the seems before releiving for a year with the Dodgers.
Aaron Nola’s contract has also come apart at the seems. He barely pitched in 2026 and was terrible.
Max Scherzer’s deal was the only good one.
As such what kind of a contract can Tarik Skubal ACTUALLY GET? Bear in mind he is coming of a year in which he returned from a major shoulder injury and was on the IL MULTIPLE TIMES.
Tarik Skubal even saw a MASSIVE ERA spike form 2.21 in 2025, to 2.79 in 2026 showing he’s not the dominant ACE he once was.
He compares closely to Max Scherzer whome the Yankees gave 8 years, $218 MIllion to BUT… He was only 27. That’s 3 YEARS YOUNGER THEN SKUABL AT THE TIME THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED!
Based off available info, and historic contracts, Tarik Skubal is capped at 8 years, and around $320 Million at ABSOLUTE MAX!

Not even $40 Million per year.
So as Tarik SKubal enter’s FA, where will he go? What teams can even pay this? Which teams will even be after him?
Well reports say the Yankees will most definitely be involved!
The Yankees would absolutely LOVE to sign him and then trade RHP Will Warren and LHP Ryan Weathers for other needed pieces.
As he is from San Francisco, the SAME EXACT TOWN AS Yankees Longtime ACE LHP, and HOFer CC SABATHIA, in Heyward California.
As such, now that he controls it (Had zero control in the trade talks!), he is almost certainly gone from the Dodgers for sure.
It is also worth mentioning. Reports say the Dodgers will not be spending till they know how the LOCK OUT SITUATION will end up…
The Mets are a complete MESS OF MESSES. The Lindor and Soto spat lingers on. There’s no end to this seemingly coming.
The Mets also have missed the post seaosn the last few years. Does Tarik Skubal really want to be part of the MESS OF MESSES in Queens?
Reports say no, HE DOES NOT!
As for the PADRES, They likely will be invovled but are unlikely to actually spend here as their new ownership has yet to show they will actually spend.
SO WHAT OTHER TEAMS WILL BE INVOLVED?
Well outside the teams mentioned, The Padres, Cubs, and, Phillies will definitely be at least involved.
I would also surmise the Braves will at least poke around here.
SO… WHO WILL BE THE FAVORITES?
Well, early info says the Yankees, and Tigers are IN THAT ORDER. The Mets, Dodgers, Padres, ETC. may try but are long shots per reports and info from baseball circles.
